Timothy White Take A Stand Award

Ronald Bonney, Jr.

For honoring the memory of his younger sister Brandy Rae Bonney, a victim of

domestic violence,by assisting survivors of abuseto seek safety and services. 

Through his business, Bonney Automotive, Ron provides free cab rides

to local individuals and theirfamilies who are fleeing from domestic violence

by helping them at any time,no questions asked, to reachemergency shelters,

hospitals, local courts, and other potentially life-saving destinations.

 

Rita Bourgeois Leadership Award

The Albert N. Parlin Trust

For its remarkable generosity and steadfast commitment to RESPOND since 2000.

  The Parlin Trust was the lead donor of RESPOND’s capital campaign for the new

eight-bedroomshelter that opened in April 2008.  Thanks to Parlin’s significant

contributions,RESPOND is able to provide emergency shelter to twice as many

women, children, and teens as ever before.

 

Marie Siraco Community Activism Award

Police Detective Martha Costa

For her outstanding work in the City of Somerville to protect and assist survivors

of domestic violenceand sexual assault.   A 20-year veteran of the Somerville

Police Department,Martha has worked in the domestic violence unit since 1993. 

She has advocated tirelessly for survivors and their families, helped individuals to

navigatethe legal and social service systems, and educated the community

about domestic violence.
