Pauline Dwyer

Everyone at RESPOND was deeply saddened to learn that Pauline Dwyer, one of our beloved founding mothers and a pioneer in the movement to end domestic violence, passed away on Monday, April 14th after a battle with cancer.

It is impossible to put into words what Pauline means to RESPOND and to many of our long-time friends and supporters.

Her courage, passion, boundless energy, and caring (not to mention incredible sense of humor) touched and changed the lives of literally thousands of people—from those she knew well to generations of women and children she never met.  Pauline was the kind of person you encounter once in a lifetime if you are lucky.  Her legacy and spirit will be with all of us and with RESPOND, always.

For information on her wake Thursday evening and memorial services to be held in New Hampshire on Friday morning, please visit the link below to an announcement in The Boston Globe .  There is another memorial gathering in the works which will to take place in Somerville later this spring.

What RESPOND MEANS TO ME....

"A safe place to be in a time of crisis. A temporary home away from home. A supportive group filled with women at various stages of rebuilding their lives giving hope to one another. The knowledge that RESPOND will always be there for you in the future..."
