Role of Society

Domestic violence is a societal issue. It is up to everyone to acknowledge, understand and end domestic violence in their homes, communities and across the globe. Working together we can meet this goal. Here at RESPOND there are a number of ways women and men can make an impact.

  • Volunteer (Volunteering at RESPOND)
  • Support your local agency/shelter (Make a donation to RESPOND)
  • Make a stand by contacting elected officials, attending rallies and vigils, etc. (RESPOND's Candelight Vigil)
  • Schedule a training on domestic violence at your workplace, organization or community to help build awareness (RESPOND trainings)
  • Know and refer proper services to those in need (RESPOND services and resources)
  • Share your concerns about domestic violence in your community
  • Set an example for your children
  • Call 911 if you see or hear someone being abused (Please make sure you are in a safe place when you call.)

What RESPOND MEANS TO ME….

"A safe place to be in a time of crisis. A temporary home away from home. A supportive group filled with women at various stages of rebuilding their lives giving hope to one another. The knowledge that RESPOND will always be there for you in the future…"

-A woman in transition.
