Dear Friends,

Thank you for being here.
Finding your way to RESPOND is not always easy. You may be feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or trying to make sense of something that doesn’t feel right. You may be here for yourself or for someone you care about. However you arrived, you are not alone—and you are welcome.
If you are not safe right now, we encourage you to reach out to our Support & Intake Line (617 623-5900).
At RESPOND, we meet every person with respect, compassion, and without judgment. Our work begins by listening. We believe you. We take the time to understand what safety and stability look like in your life—not what they “should” look like, but what feels right for you. You are the expert in your own experience. We are here to walk alongside you.
For more than 50 years, RESPOND has been part of this community—supporting survivors of domestic violence and helping individuals and families move toward safety and stability. What began as neighbors helping neighbors has grown into a network of care that includes emergency shelter, housing support, legal advocacy, and prevention education for young people.
Every day, we walk alongside survivors across our community. We see the strength and resilience it takes to move forward. We also see how much it matters to have someone beside you—someone who listens, who understands, and who stays.
There are many ways to be part of this work. You might reach out for support, share our resources, volunteer your time, or make a gift. Each action helps ensure that no one in our community has to face violence alone.
I am deeply grateful—for the courage of survivors, for the dedication of our staff and volunteers, and for a community that continues to stand with us.
Thank you for being here.
With gratitude,
Victoria Helberg
